River acquired 50% of Southwest and used it as a vehicle to acquire AstroTurf. The combined entity ultimately became the largest designer, manufacturer and installer of synthetic playing fields and tracks in the world. Management realized significant cost savings after the merger as AstoTurf quickly returned to profitability.
